Week 1 - What have you already done? Identifying your transferrable skills.
Week 2: Resume Building
Week 3: What would you do? Job Dos and Don'ts + Scenarios
Week 4: Effective Communication - Interview skills and techniques
Week 5: Mock Interviews
Week 6: Headshots
Week 7: Old Navy Tour
Week 8: Graduation and Reflection/Testimonials
COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (Age 14)
The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program introduces our youngest members of the Academy into the workforce through in-house special events. After completing their 8 week training course, CITs are then able to work FOCUS Youth Network special events and programs to earn stipends, gift cards, and other various benefits. CITs are required to work four (4) events in a calendar year in order to graduate to counselor.
COUNSELOR (Age 15)
Counselors are getting their first taste of "real-world" work experience. Upon completion of their 8 week training course if they did not complete it as a CIT, counselors can become official employees of the FOCUS Youth Network, working our After-School program, summer camp, and various events and programs. Counselors start at $10/hr or can earn volunteer hours for school.
Employee (Age 16)
Youth who are 16 are eligible for our Next Gen Workforce Academy Employment Referral Program. After completion of the 8 week training course, age eligible graduates will be provided preferential interviews with our employment partner, Old Navy-Springfield, work with the FOCUS Youth Network as well as other organizations. This program ensures a smooth entrance into the workforce and a positive work experience.
